Pipe replacement and related work

The apartment's new water line is made of 16- and 20-millimeter PEX pipes, and the drainage system is made of 50- and 110-millimeter polypropylene pipes.     Pipe replacement

    Replacing the piping means replacing the entire cold water, hot water and circulation line along with shut-off valves, corner valves and the water meter assembly.     Leak repair

Behind the closed wall, we look for the leak before opening with a thermal camera and applying pressure in sections so that one square of plaster comes off, not the whole wall.

How long does pipe replacement take?

Replacing the kitchen and bathroom water pipes in a two-room prefab apartment with PEX pipes takes two working days. On the first day we shut off the water, dismantle the old route and mill the furrows, on the second day we transport the new pipes from the manifold, connect the faucets and boiler and pressurize the system.

Changing a section of one floor of the riser lasts 4 hours, and the water is stuck in the riser for 3 hours. The closing affects all apartments in the same building, so the plumber will coordinate the time window with the apartment association two working days in advance and a notice will be sent to the stairwell. 271 floor sections were replaced in 2025, and a total of 4,612 will have been replaced by the end of 2025.

It takes 90 minutes to eliminate a leak at a angle valve or a flexible hose, and 60 minutes to open a kitchen clog with a spiral. Pressure washing of re-clogging lasts 2 hours, because the pipe is washed clean along the entire section between the apartments, not just above the blockage. 1. How we work

Choosing a pipe material

Temperature, access and water hardness decide whether PEX, copper or a surface solution goes behind the wall.

PEX pipes and manifold systems

A PEX pipe with a diameter of 16 mm feeds one water intake point and a common route of 20 mm. The pipe is flexible and goes from the manifold to the faucet in one piece, so there is not a single joint left in the wall, and every missing joint is one less leak point. PEX can withstand an operating temperature of 70 degrees and a pressure of 10 bar, and we put a 9 mm insulation sock on the hot water pipe, which keeps the water warmer when it reaches the tap and prevents condensation on the surface of the cold water pipe.

Copper for exposed pipe runs

We choose 15 mm and 18 mm copper pipes for the boiler room, boiler and boiler connections and visible sections, because copper can withstand water of over 100 degrees and does not need protection from sunlight. Do walls need to be opened to replace the pipes?
